Spartan Scroll VII - September 14th
Coach Ed Koester

It’s amazing what can be accomplished when no one claims the credit. Over the last several weeks everyone in our Spartan program has shown great desire to work together and accomplish the tasks at hand. Sure several individuals have worked tirelessly and on many occasions they have needed others to help and at times that help has not been found. Yet the work gets done, and the credit is shared by many. On behalf of our coaches and players let me thank those people who consistently do little things as well as great things for the benefit of all.

Unfortunately in our culture today we fight so many battles to protect the deserved rewards as well as the assumed. There is a constant strain for mine, my turn, my situation warrants recognition more than others, there is a loss too often of the “we”. The following descriptors of cultures of today may help us to avoid the drastic collapse that comes sometimes when we feel we are on the untouchable role.

Part of Story on Playoff Chances for Class AAAAA teams

Region 5-AAAAA

*Locks: Allatoona
The eighth-ranked Buccaneers already have three region victories (no one else in the region has more than two). Allatoona’s region title fate is likely to be decided in a three-game stretch against South Paulding, Alexander and New Manchester that begins next week.

*Likely: South Paulding
The Spartans could move into the “locks” category with a victory at Allatoona on Sept. 26, but they are already in good shape after beating East Paulding 24-14 last week. South Paulding finished second in the region and won a school-record 10 games last year.

*On the bubble: Alexander, New Manchester, East Paulding
